FLUXBUDDHA

Conceived by professor and “Flux-Happener” Christopher Kelley, FluxBuddha is an interdisciplinary performance art concert in eight parts. With experimental neuroscience interactions by Future Fellow David Eagleman, FluxBuddha is receiving its first performance at the Rubin Museum. Through live performance, notions of time and identity will be disrupted. Nicole will be performing throughout the event in various guises! So watch out!

Fertile Ground New Works Series

Green Space and the Fertile Ground Series has supported emerging and established artists for 12 seasons, showcasing the work of over 50 choreographers each year. The program features five dance makers each evening and includes a post-performance discussion with wine, moderated by Green Space’s Artistic Director, Valerie Green. Nicole will be trying out an excerpt from her in-progress one woman show - Ego Show VII: Adultery. It's been 11 years since the last Ego Show and now it's back - no holds barred!

A Celebration of Leonard Cohen in Song, Dance and Poetry

An evening celebrating the life and work of Leonard Cohen in song, dance, and poetry. Poets Charles Coe, Richard Waring, and David Gullette (The Poets' Theatre) take us on a journey through the career of Leonard Cohen, exploring the significance behind songs performed by musical guests. Musicians include Tony Trischka, Mark Erelli, Rose Polenzani, Sean Trischka, Dietrich Strause, Jodi Hitzhusen, Jef Charland, Jenna Moynihan, Fiona Ostermayer, and Paul Ostermayer (who played in Cohen's band). Nicole Pierce (EgoArt, Inc.) will perform a dance to a beloved Cohen song. Special live-mixed animation by Julian Petschek and Tempe Hale. Many more special guests still to be announced!

Sweat

A full-length a cappella opera for 5 soloists and chorus. Produced in co-operation with Center for Contemporary Opera. Music by Juliet Palmer, Libretto by Anna Chatterton, Directed by Giselle Ty, Conducted by Lidiya Yankovskaya, choreography by EgoArt, Inc's own Nicole Pierce.

Sweat is a kaleidoscope of characters and stories collected from factories around the world. The work offers a window into the lives of the unseen millions who work to clothe us and the high-flying designers whose fantasies feed the fashion industry.

The Soldier's Tale

Produced at Tanglewood in Seiji Ozawa Hall with Maestro Charles Dutoit and members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra with choreography by EgoArt, Inc.'s own Nicole Pierce. Igor Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale" was directed and narrated by Bill Barclay, with music, text, and dancing that presents a story based on a Russian folktale of a hapless soldier who strikes a deal with the devil.

Nicole Pierce and Victor Tiernan performed in Caitlin Corbett Dance Company's Dance Company Showcase, 'I'm Like, No Way', a work in progress that considers the trajectory of recklessness through three duets and an octet. Other works featured in the performance include Without Word (1998), a lush, lyrical duet for two women and Duets (2009), an eclectic collection of 15 one-minute duets performed by a truly dynamic assortment of unlikely couplings, most of whom are non-dancers.

ARTIST TALK: Dancing to Mozart's Requiem: Scores, Recordings and Choreography

Nicole Pierce prepared an artist talk that described her unique process for creating her dance, Requiem including listening to samples of various recordings, a brief review of the history of the Requiem itself (unfinished at the time of Mozart's death) and video excerpts from the performance.

The evening was prepared for the Somerville Public Library and was a free event for the community.

Soaking WET is a series of choreographic evenings curated by David Parker, whose company, David Parker and The Bang Group has been the first and only resident-dance company of the West End Theater since January 2003. Parker is committed to bringing together artists of varied backgrounds and levels of experience in order to break down aesthetic barriers and achieve mutual inspiration. The artists are united by their commitment to movement and their understanding that vigorous experimentation can take many forms. Requiem

Nicole Pierce and EgoArt, Inc. were pleased to present Requiem as part of the first annual Cyc-Specific Festival of Art, a two week visual and performing arts event in the Boston Center for the Arts unique Cyclorama venue.


The festival was developed in response to the artist community's ongoing call for the Cyclorama to be open more frequently for artists' use, and EgoArt, Inc. were happy to be part of the inaugural presentation.


Requiem premiered in Fall of 2009 at the Armory in Somerville, MA to critical acclaim. We were excited to expand on this work in the unique space of the BCA Cyclorama.
